And we’ll probably scream it again; We’re a design forward kind of company. We do a lot of work with graphics and motion, in which our design principles and process play a very active role in our projects. In our Why We’re Designers First blog, we break down our creative process and show how design influences everything that we do, even outside of the traditional graphic design medium.
Marketing, Stories, and Design
At Storyocity, we do a lot in the video production, motion design, and ultimately marketing industry. But we break down what we do in two simple ways: We create elevated experiences and well designed stories. When we are showcasing a new product or service, we heighten the sensory information relayed via video to really amplify the experience someone can have with that product or service. We design stories that aren’t just compelling, but they are purposeful and powerful for showing emotion and information. We have an agenda with what we make, and that agenda is to create a connection between brand and viewer. We make memorable content that speaks to the mind, powerful content that speaks to the heart, or just beautiful content that creates a variety of emotions. If our content connects, we’ve succeeded.
More Than Just Compelling Stories
Advertising that does a great job at entertaining is a great thing, but not every brand can get away with producing ads that just entertain. We recently posted about the importance of bringing entertainment back to advertising. Our post talks about how it is possible to do two things at once; entertain the audience, and educate them on your product or service at the same time. If you are a big brand, you can afford to just entertain and get your logo out there. If you are a small or medium sized business, you also probably need to work in some product or service education too. Dollar Shave Club does a great job at doing both in one compelling spot.
We focus our process around designing stories, not just telling them. We often have very clear goals of entertaining, educating, and inspiring. We know we’ve done our job when the viewer is entertained by the content and knows more about the product or service. We like to create value for our clients and for the viewers of our work. That’s why we continue to push and refine our process so that we create well designed stories every single time.
